Okay...then let me go for a second so I can get up...
[He gives the nephilim a little nudge. It'll be easier to pick him up from a standing position than to try and stand WITH Kokichi already in his arms.]
[He lets go as requested, scooting back so that Shuichi has plenty of room to stand. His gaze wanders, in those few moments, back to his shadow but it snaps back to the demon as his shadow smiles back at him.
[Shuichi wastes no time in getting to his feet, and bends over a little bit to put one arm under Kokichi's knees and the other at his back. Hopefully Kokichi doesn't mind a bridal carry, because that's what he's getting.]
[Or at least, he will once he wraps his arms around the demon's neck. Shuichi apparently doesn't want to straighten up or lift the smaller boy until he's totally secure and there's no chance of dropping him.]
[Well if he does mind, he makes no complaints. He wraps his arms around the demon's neck like he should, without needing any prompting, as the feathers on his cheeks fluff up a little and what skin is visible turns pink.
Actually, he might even enjoy the idea of being carried bridal style...]
[The sight of Kokichi's fluffing cheek feathers brings a smile to Shuichi's face as he stands up. No matter how many times he sees it, he'll never get over how cute that is.]
[But once he's upright, he pulls the smaller boy in as close to his bare chest as he can before walking across the room and into the bedroom.]
See? I'm not even breaking a-- well...I'm not sweating because I'm carrying you, anyway...
[But he can't say he's not sweating because...that's still happening. It's still hot and he's still sweaty.]
[Once they reach the bedroom, he carefully bends over so that he can lay Kokichi down on his own side of the bed. Said nephilim is going to have to let go of his neck in order for this to work, though.]
[Shuichi will likely hear the soft little "nishishi" of Kokichi thoroughly enjoying himself as they go. It's one he's heard plenty of times before, whenever the demon is paying attention to him in a way he particularly enjoys...
So it's probably no surprise when he doesn't let go immediately. He gives him a couple kisses to his cheek and one to his lips before he finally does so, looking up at him.]
[Shuichi returns the kiss on the lips and nuzzles Kokichi's nose with his own before letting him go and walking around the bed to lay down on his own side. He lays down on his side, facing Kokichi with his arms spread open for the smaller boy to come curl up against his chest if he wants.]
[This is not going to help with the heat issue and he knows it, but he also doesn't care. They have the A/C going AND the ceiling fan, he can endure. He can endure the additional body heat for as long as Kokichi needs to feel better...]
[Snuggling together definitely won't help the heat at all, but as Kokichi immediately moves to cuddle close to Shuichi, happy to be wrapped in his arms, the detective will likely feel gentle breezes washing over the two of them.
[He's happy to hear that the wind is helping, keeping it going as he talks.]
Wind is a lot more harmless than plasma is...so I've been able to practice it pretty freely without having to worry about anything. The most I can do is create super strong gusts that might knock stuff over and break it, and that stuff can just be replaced.
[You can't replace lives though...nor can you just replace any injuries you might cause someone with plasma. It's been really nice having a power that he doesn't have to be scared of.]
Of course. It was completely out of a sense of responsibility that I did that and not because I wanted to avoid any reprimanding or nagging. Definitely.
Hm? I don't remember saying "Saihara-chan would have nagged at me not to practice my wind powers in the apartment if he saw how many things I knocked over and broke." Just that I was being responsible and that was the only reason I replaced them.
[Who ELSE would have nagged you?! They're the only two people here!]
A-Anyway, it doesn't matter either way. [Snuggling? Snuggling. He's just gonna bury his face in your hair a little, Kokichi, don't mind him. And before the nephilim gets a chance to try and continue the argument, the demon adds, in a small voice:] I think wind powers suit you better, by the way...
[It's a good thing Shuichi decided to say something because Kokichi was sure to try and continue the argument. But what he says about the wind powers has the nephilim pausing for a moment before the demon can feel him shifting a little in an effort to look up at him.
With...out moving away from Shuichi. And therefor leaving the detective's face in his hair, making looking up both impossible and pointless.]
Mmm... [He nods.] The wind is...unpredictable. It can be destructive, but most of the time it's harmless. It can be calm or playful, strong or gentle... it has many sides. And it's...uninhibited. Nobody really controls the wind. You can go inside a building to escape it, but but that doesn't make the wind stop blowing.
[He pulls back a little so that he can meet Kokichi's gaze.]
So I think...you're more like the wind than you are like the lightning.
[He's quiet as he listens, watching his boyfriend with his ears perked slightly, a clear sign he's taking in every word he says. Meeting Shuichi's gaze in return, he's still a little quiet afterwards before he leans forward, nuzzling his face against the demon.]
...y'know, I don't really think I'm unlike the lightning...but I'm glad to know you would compare me more to the wind in the end.
[It's probably no surprise that he'd compare himself more to lightning than wind at this point, but his words are genuinely grateful and heartfelt...even if he may disagree, he's choosing to accept the comparison anyway. He wants to be more like the wind and less like the lightning...]
[Shuichi pulls his head back entirely so that he can lay it down on his pillow and gaze into Kokichi's eyes. A small smile plays around the corners of his lips and his gaze is so full of love it's almost palpable.]
[Hell, thanks to their synchrony, it actually kind of is. It's not tangible, but Kokichi should be able to feel it nevertheless.]
To me, you'll always be a summer breeze...the playful ones that blow through pinwheels and windchimes and utterly fail to make the heat more bearable without the help of a fan.
[He loves you, Kokichi, but you're a little shit.]
[In return, Shuichi can likely feel the way Kokichi's melting under that kind of gaze, soaking it in like it's the last drink of water he'll ever get. He'll never get tired of Shuichi looking at him with any level of affection...and it'll take some time before he stops feeling like it'll be the last time he sees it.
Though those feelings are quickly replaced with a mixture of a bust of love mixed equally with embarrassment as Kokichi ducks his head, cheeks pink and feathers ruffled.]
J-jeez, what lame romance novel did you get that from?
[In spite of his words, it's easy for the demon to feel that he loves it. That he's clearly weak kneed here. Please say more things like that to him.]
[Feel free to bask in it as long as you like, Kokichi. For once, Shuichi isn't shying away from eye contact. It's almost like he never wants to STOP looking.]
Mmmm, not from a novel. I just thought of it. Sometimes I'm capable of being romantic, you know? Not very often, but...sometimes!
[It's more than sometimes. It's just usually not with words, that's the thing.]

Mmmm, well your practice paid off and it couldn't have come at a better time. Especially if it gets even hotter than it already is...
[Nuzzle, nuzzle.]
Though...now I do have to ask. Exactly how many things have you knocked over and broken already?
[That comment sounds like one that comes out of experience to him!]
