I'm not gonna pick on you. I just want to know how serious you guys are about this game. Whether you guys seriously don't want to participate, if you're curious about trying it, if you're just not being honest with me...or each other, or even yourselves. Clearly Akamatsu-chan is some combination of those last ones there.
[Well there's a surprise. Kokichi Oma? Not going to pick on him? That can't be right. He must have misheard. Or maybe he's picking on him by not picking on him? Ugh, talking to Kokichi one-on-one is still as tiring as ever. Good to know.]
I...I don't know.
[Meaning he's probably just going to go along with whatever Kaede decides because that's just how he is.]
Well here's some advice: you should give it some serious thought. If she wants to play this game, you shouldn't just go along with it, y'know? It's going to be way more long term than the games you and I played...so you should make it enjoyable for her. Long term games are miserable if one person wants to play and the other just does whatever the first one wants. So...think about it. If she wants to, you should commit and really play with her.
[Solid man advice from a fellow man. He's really not picking on him!
........mostly because he's going to pick on Kaede later, but partially because he cares too!]
[Oh my god, Kokichi, leave poor Kaede alone. Haven't you picked on her enough already?]
M-mm... [Strangely sweet and genuine advice from kokichi. Seriously, what's gotten into him today? Or is he maybe...seeing a truer side of him? The bits that he had to hide because of the killing game? Who can say. Kokichi Oma is an enigma, after all. A lie in human form. There are many possibilities...]
[Shuichi finally glances up from the floor. He looks a little hesitant. It's a very innocent question, but...it's coming from Kokichi. There's no guarantee that the actual question will also be innocent. He may bring the creeper smile back out and start talking about boners again.]
...yes. [Well, actually Kaede asked Rei about it and then Kaede told him and THEN he went to go look it up himself but...details. Just thinking about it brings an uncomfortable grimace to his face.] Is that one of the squares we have in common or did you just look it up because you were curious?
Of course not. [Does this look like the face of a boy who could enjoy branding someone? Or being branded himself?] So even if I do decide to play, it's impossible for me to actually finish the game. Especially since you have to enjoy the experience for a square to count.
[Being branded is one of the LEAST arousing things he can think of, honestly. And everything else that falls under the "edgeplay" umbrella.]
Not necessarily. Winning bingo is just getting a bingo. Either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. If I remember your card right, you can easily get a diagonal if you're willing to put up with a couple things, or think creatively about them. Orgasm denial, blindfolds, size difference and latex or rubber, plus the free square in the middle. The first and last two squares would really be your only issue, I'd think. And even then only because you're pretty plain and probably haven't considered anything like those.
[He taps his chin.]
You could do a vertical one too. Your second column, assuming you choose to do something that isn't painful for possessive. I bet even just putting a collar on someone would work...though, that does have multiple partners in it. So you and Akamatsu-chan would have to be okay with that, or you'd have to be okay finding two other parties.
[Those are the only two he could see Shuichi having an easy...ish time with. Hooking his hands behind his head, he leans back some.]
And then beyond that, it's just about filling squares to get cash. Nineteen of your squares are actually pretty tame, you just have to be willing to push past being embarrassed and do them.
[And then he sits up.]
Do any of your squares overlap with Akamatsu-chan? If you guys focused on those first, you could totally pull in a lot of cash at once, you know? Like...you and I share a third of our cards. If they all pay roughly the same, that'd be sixteen thousand credits between the two of us. Not including the free squares, which could get us another two.
[He tilts his head back to stare up at the ceiling in thought for a few beats.]
Then again, in a place like this, "winning" is probably subjective. Getting bingos, filling squares and cards...that might not matter. Sex is a recreational thing, right? So maybe you're winning by just enjoying it. Or maybe you're winning by making deeper, more meaningful connections with the person you care about. Not all games have to have a strict win or lose condition.
[He really shouldn't be surprised that Kokichi has put this much thought into something like this, after seeing that whiteboard he kept in his room. Plus, his love of games in general.]
[But still, all Shuichi can do for a few minutes is stare blankly at him.]
I...guess you have a point. [About the win conditions, presumably. He hadn't really thought about it that way. Then again, he hasn't really been thinking much about the game at all beyond his initial "How About No" reaction.]
[A deeper, more meaningful connection with the person you care about, huh? Thinking about it that way, it doesn't sound so bad. And it brings a faint pink tint to his cheeks and a weird fuzzy feeling in his chest.]
[Maybe if he approaches the game from that viewpoint...he can play it after all. Even if he can't actually complete his card because there's no way he could possibly ask Kaede to do some of the things on there with him.]
[There we go...he can tell pretty easily that he succeeded with that win condition line. He wants the other two to have an easier time dealing with this. Maybe even a fun time? Because it's better than the killing game by a long shot, even if it's embarrassing...he had a feeling something about connecting with Kaede would snag him.
But okay buddy, come back down to earth. They are still having a conversation. He leans forward and snaps his fingers in front of him.]
You can day dream about her when you're with her, Saihara-chan. I still asked you a question!
[It...sucks, putting her out there as a win condition when he wants so badly to be that himself, but...it's better this way. And at least he has an excuse to steal his attention back for a little bit. It's rude to ignore a person like that!]
[He jumps a little, but the finger snapping brings him back before he had a chance to space out too hard.]
S-Sorry! ...which question? [Technically, you asked him two actual questions, Kokichi. "Sex is a recreational thing, right?" is something he could give an answer to. But he's pretty sure that was actually meant to be rhetorical, so...] Our overlapping squares?
Aww come on Saihara-chan! You can tell me. Akamatsu-chan rejected me, so it's not like I can personally do anything with that information. I'm just trying to help you out.
[...that is the weakest lie you've told since we arrived here! You, of all people, could definitely find a way to use that information...]
[Shuichi shakes his head.]
If she didn't show you her card herself, then there's a reason she doesn't want you to have that information. It's not my place to tell you what's on her card.
And if it's just a matter of comparing square placement, I think I can manage just fine on my own.
[His expression falls a little with the mention of "there's a reason she doesn't", but he shrugs and leans back again.]
It's because we're "not that kind of friends", but alright.
[See, it would have been totally safe to tell him because he totally doesn't care. They'll never do anything together so!!!!! Quickly after that he sits up straight again, leaning in with a sly smile.]

So hey, can I ask you a question?
no subject
Uh...sure? What is it?
no subject
Have you looked up what edgeplay means?
[Just while they're on the topic of the game.]

no subject
Mm, it's one we have in common, yeah. Though I looked the squares on your card that weren't obvious up anyway, just in case you weren't going to.
[He's a great friend, looking up all this kinky stuff you'll have to do.]
no subject
Ah. Well, I looked them up. And, honestly, doing so just made me want to play this game even less.
[What the fuck is wrong with the people running this game.]
no subject
[That noise is him agreeing with the sentiment.]
Can't say I'm surprised to hear that. I can't see you enjoying some of those squares no matter what side you're on. Nor no matter who you're with.
[Even if you hated someone, you probably couldn't pull them off, huh?]
I get it though.

[At least he has that going for him!!!]
Which ones? Since you have five, that could open up different easy bingo options, depending on what they are!
no subject
[But ugh, of course he asked for specifics. Of course he did.]
I can't tell you which ones.
[Because he is a good boy and he knows Kaede doesn't trust Kokichi with her card.]
[And he can't blame her, honestly.]
