[Shuichi is so focused on his book that the click of the door opening goes completely unnoticed. When Kaede says his name, he jumps slightly and looks up, clearly startled but not overly so. That startled look fades quickly, however, replaced by a warm smile as he sets his book aside and sits up.]
[If she happens to look at his wrist or bedside table before he speaks, the answer should be obvious. No, it's not broken, he's just not wearing it.]

[She does spot the lack of watch on his wrist as she slips her shoes off and pads across the room, climbing into bed with him without hesitation. Just going to curl up next to him and rest her cheek on his chest, if he'll let her. Comfy.]
